  1. Wow that was a great video (watched all 3 parts too). Some of it did seem a bit dated, 80's out kinda. But very informative over all.

It's sad but when the "average American" hears about a militia they assume it's a bad thing (msm doesn't help with that image).
A militia is nothing more than the citizens of the community organizing themselves to help each other out.
Imho that is what the founding fathers meant by a militia.

I am extremely liberal on some issues, on other issues I am extremely conservative. Dems, Repubs, both suck badly. Politicians/politics in general are just plain corrupt (on every level, local/state/fed on up). I guess my problem is that I love my country but hate my government (I Know thats a bumper sticker).

We need to try to pull together since only like 6 of us are following this blog. Perhaps we should rename ourselves "progressive liberal sons of liberty", ya know to be all pc (kidding btw).

We need to raise awareness if this is to succeed (linking alot of sources on things like this video is exactly what we need to be doing).

    "Sweet land of liberty"

Let me know how I can help...

--->Admin if you give me your email I can send you some stories/links/commentary to review and post if you think it's worth posting.

I will try to write up a generic letter/email to send about this gun bill (something everyone can use to send).

  3. Hannibal,

    This is what I sent:

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am writing this letter in an attenpt to gain your support in passing H.B. 470. Some 40 states have already passed similar bills into law with the intent of restoring the rights of the citizens to defend themselves. What they didn't anticipate was that it would also reduce crime. Yes, there was a marked reduction in violent crime in the states that passed these laws. As a matter of fact violent crime in states that have refused to repeal laws that forbid the citizens the right to carry concealed firearms has risen steadily and continues to rise.

Criminals will always take advantage of those weaker than themselves. If a criminal possesses a weapon of any type, whether it be a gun, a knife, or a club, his victim will ALWAYS be weaker than him as the law now stands. An intended victim carrying a concealed firearm is not an easy mark for the criminal. As criminals learn that the citizens they are accustomed to randomly victimizing are arming themselves, criminals tend to turn away from attacking people and focus on crimes against property. That means stealing rather than robbing and/or murdering. The last thing a criminal wants is an intended victim who can adequately defend themselves. After all - criminals don't want to become victims.

I have personally seen people victimized by violent criminals ranging from being simply assaulted to being murdered. Never has one of these victims been afforded the opportunity to adequately defend themselves. Many times this was due to unreasonable laws restricting that right of self defense.

Imagine the possibilities repealing this law presents.

    1) If the law required each person receive training (as other states have) you would be creating opportunities for people to expand existing sporting goods businesses thereby creating much needed jobs.

    2) By charging a nominal fee of perhaps $50.00 for the issuance of the first permit (upon providing certification of proper training), the State of Maryland could charge a fee of perhaps $20.00 every two years to maintain the permit upon providing certification of satisfactory qualification at a range by a certified firearms instructor.

This revenue would be generated by people voluntarily.

Think of how 9/11 may have turned out differently had some of the American Citizens been permitted to carry a concealed firearm.

Think of how the shootings at Columbine would likely have been ended much more quickly had a few of those teachers been permitted to carry a concealed firearm. How about Virginia Tech?

Now take this into consideration. In December, 2007, off duty Security Guard Jeanne Assam was in church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, when a gunman entered and started shooting. The gunman, who had a rifle and 1000 rounds of ammunition, killed two people and wounded a third when concealed carry permit holder Assam drew her weapon and shot and killed the assailant. Imagine what would likely have been the outcome if she hadn't been there. Or if she hadn't had a concealed carry permit. If you or a family member were in that church, wouldn't you be glad to know that a responsible person trained and qualified in the use of a firearm was present?

It is unthinkable that our elected officials would consider NOT repealing this provision in our law requiring that good, substantial reason to wear, carry or transport be demonstrated. In reality it shouldn't have been included in the legislation the first place.

I ask you now to give the good, law abiding citizens a chance in an increasingly violent world. Repeal this requirement and give us back the right to defend ourselves and our families against violent criminals.
